When people dream of building a house, they imagine it to be a haven of wonderful memories as well. However, apart from leaving a huge hole in the owner’s pocket, construction can be a mess and cause severe mental stress. Six years ago, when this house was built on his 3.5 cent lot in Charyam, Kozhikode, things didn’t go as planned. And the interior had to be demolished and then rebuilt, fixing errors that made it almost uninhabitable.
It was difficult to build a house on a small site, but it was built according to plan. However, the family felt that the store was smaller and more crowded than they had imagined. The formal living area was very small and could not even accommodate her 3 or her 4 guests.
Designed at 1800 square feet, the home includes a sitting area, living and dining area, kitchen with adjoining work area, a bedroom on the first floor, and two bedrooms and a balcony on the second floor.
Five years later, the family decided to redecorate the interior to make it more spacious and comfortable. Architect Shafi deserves credit for redesigning the house to suit her family’s needs. Excessive inner walls are removed to create a spacious and open interior space. The open hall in which the living and dining rooms are located has been significantly altered. The space has been rearranged to appear expansive. The living area can now easily accommodate up to 10 guests. The furniture is custom made for small spaces in the home.
Minor changes were made to the height as well. The overhanging balcony was removed and this area turned into a study his area. A quirky floating car pouch made of metal and polycarbonate finish is very interesting.
The floors, electrical and sanitary facilities of the old structure had to be completely replaced. The flooring in the living room is flooring, and the other parts are tiled. Plaster false ceilings and LED lighting fixtures add a spectacular touch to the interior. Privacy is ensured in spite of being an open and spacious space.
The floating-style staircase with wooden boards spread over a metal frame is compact.
The kitchen cabinets, on the other hand, are finished with aluminum composite panels. The countertop is paved with granite. An adjoining work area completes the modern kitchen.
The bedrooms have been attractively renovated. A suspended ceiling and new light fixtures add charm to the room. In addition, additional storage space has also been newly added.
Six years later, the family finally got their dream home. He spent 170,000 rupees for them to build the house first. However, now the renovation has been completed on a budget of Rs 34 lakh.Despite losing a good amount of money, the family is happy and satisfied with the improved look of the house. Moreover, they take this experience as a lesson to pass on to others who do not do enough homework before starting construction.
