Welcome to Top Shelf. Highsnobiety’s monthly guide to the best new beauty products worth trying.
After taking two weeks off, which included plenty of time to tinker with new beauty product launches, I’m happy to bring you a monthly report that WTF is actually worth buying. .
While June was all about fireproof skincare (heat wave, anyone?), July brought drama with its bold, flashy colors and healthy shimmer. “No makeup” makeup, already.
Let’s get into it.
ONE/SIZE – Fantasize Mascara
Patrick Starrr’s latest creation is a curl like no other. As I mentioned before, my Asian lashes are straight and respond poorly to most drugstore brands.Fantasize adds lift, length and volume, the holy trinity of mascaras.
Shimihaze Beauty – Eyeplay Angel Pack
DJ duo Simi and Haze Khadra have created a new favorite face gem for all festivalgoers. Expanding the Eye Play range, a series of glitter and rhinestone stickers to enhance any look, the Angel Pack is a set of baby pink and blue stones for the eyelid and brow area.
We watched Euphoria togetheryou are probably thinking. we know what face gems areHere’s what makes Simihaze stickers different from other stickers: Rather than being uniformly chunky, it’s small enough to create a more sophisticated and subtle look, whether it’s the sharp wings or the highlights in the inner corners.
rare beauty kind words matte lip liner
You already know how I feel about Selena Gomez’s rare beauty. Obviously, I’m a fan of her new lip her liner. Finally a built-in sharpener10 shades of pink and brown are perfect for highlighting your lips without lipstick. Lately, I’ve been lining my pout with a “fun” shade and applying sheer gloss over that.
Urban Decay – Vice Lip Bond
As promised in the Urban Decay campaign, Vice Lip Bond is an E-ZPass to Chloe Cherry-level pouts. This stuff is so saturated that a gorilla grips it on your skin. In other words, practice makes your application perfect. It’s not completely transfer-proof, but it’s troublesome to remove.
Sunny’s Face – Lip Treat
A moisturizing balm with a hint of color, this lip treat is an item you’ll want to keep on hand at all times. Easier to apply than a lip liner or lipstick, this balm quickly delivers glamorous color and hydration on the go.
rem Beauty – Luna Magic Primer
Ariana Grande’s new primer is a godsend for oily T-zones. Smooth a pea-sized amount onto nose and forehead before applying foundation to smooth out pores and eliminate stickiness during the day. Also, unlike other blurring primers, Lunar Magic does not have a chalky, silicone-like feel.
Hourglass – Ambient Soft Glow Foundation
Julianne Moore is the face of Hourglass’ new foundation, and this fact alone should be enough to convince you of its quality.
But if you want more than a campaign featuring the iconic redhead, consider the following. Ambient Soft Glow is a medium coverage liquid foundation with a semi-matte, dewy finish. It’s kind of halfway between a skin tint and a full coverage foundation, perfect for days when you don’t want full coverage but want full coverage. SomethingIt’s finished with Hourglass’ Ambient Light Palette (another brand favorite) for a supernatural glow.
