Robert Scott has joined The Dispatch as the new lifestyle editor.
He succeeds Nicole Layton, who has led the division for just over a year. Scott coordinates and creates content for his Sunday Lifestyle and Wednesday Food his pages and contributes to the general quota work of the news section.
Monday was his first day.
A native of Woodland, Scott served for the past three years as Editor-in-Chief and Chief Writer for the Chickasaw Journal in Houston, Mississippi.
He graduated from the University of Mississippi Women’s College in 2019 with a degree in Communications. While there, he minored in film studies, served as entertainment editor for The Spectator, wrote movie reviews, and more.
“I am passionate about telling stories, not just writing,” said Scott. “I believe people deserve to have their stories told to a wider audience and The Dispatch provided the perfect platform to do just that. I spent a lot of time here in college and it’s a great community with lots of interesting people.”
Editor-in-Chief Zach Pleia says Scott’s positive attitude and experience in community journalism make him a good fit for the job.
“Robert clearly understands how to build relationships in the community,” says Plair. “He is very committed to enhancing the lifestyle and food sections and serving his readers through his work.”
