Visiting multiple worlds in less than an hour seems impossible, but Sumter’s one business makes it possible.
A special Selfie World opened on July 23rd, allowing the Sumterites to experience something new and exciting at their back door.
Owner duo Joshua Gholson and Jasmine Cowan started the business to provide something fresh and new for the region’s younger generation, their generation and everyone in between.
As people enter, they are greeted by a colorful mural of women showing their way to an entirely different world: 20.
“All the paint, the drywall, that was us,” Golson said.
Each room was designed by Gholson and Cowan from top to bottom. A total of 22 different settings will leave visitors immersed in photography. Wall-to-wall décor includes a game room and kids zone for relaxation.
“We are more than a selfie museum,” says Gholson. “We are also a content studio, and we also allow videographers and photographers to come with clients and models and shoot professionally.” Youtuber and his Tiktoker are also on board, in a room that suits them. Create content, reserve event space, and more.
Most of the rooms are interactive, people can throw money, call Barbie, become an angel…anything is possible. Simply ring, take a photo, move to different positions in the room and snap. Gholson also works as an in-house photographer if people want to take it to another level.
“My prices vary by costume and time, but if people want a more professional setup, I’m here,” he said.
Fees are $20 for adults, $15 for children, and children under 3 are free. Entrance fee he is given one hour to take photos and videos as much as he likes.
Along with all the interactive items, the owner also has a ball python snake named Sunny that can be used for photos and videos.
“She’s such a nice person and we already have some people taking pictures with her, and they love it,” Cowan said.
Business is solid, and the duo plans to expand across South Carolina in the next few years. Focused. Every few months, each room is set up differently. Visitors can even expect to see holiday-themed setups.
“We have at least four Halloween-themed rooms, but don’t worry about Christmas, we’ve got that covered too,” Cowan said.
Xclusive Selfie World is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 9pm.
