On September 13, 2002, Saugerties police arrested day care owner and former Saugerties School Board member Angie Paone (aka Angie Minew), 42, on two felony charges related to falsifying business records.
Police said the arrest was made “as a result of an investigation involving the Town of Saugerties Building Department and the New York State Department of Children and Family Services.”
Police allege that Paone prepared and submitted two false documents. According to police, the first document claimed she complied with the annual fire inspection. It was said to be a fake document that had been submitted.
According to her Facebook page, Paone is the owner and CEO of the Speckled Frog Playcare and Learning Center in Saugerties, which has been running it for 15 years. She also previously served on the Saugerties School Board, but in 2016 she ran for legislature but was unsuccessful.
Following the investigation, police issued four counts on two separate felony charges (first-degree falsification of business records – two counts, and providing perjury for first-degree filings – two counts). did.
Paone was processed and released. She is scheduled to appear in court on her October 5, 2022.
