Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady started at least 10 days off from the team’s training camp this week. According to the team, it’s a pre-planned hiatus.
“Personal reasons” are the only reason Brady is leaving the team. It has sparked a lot of speculation as to what the personal reasons are.
Rick Stroud Tampa Bay Times “[t]His scheduled absence has nothing to do with the health of Brady or his family. “
So it really seems like it was just a break from training camp for the 45-year-old quarterback.
It’s unclear if Brady specifically negotiated an in-camp vacation when he withdrew his retirement, or if it came up afterward. I’m not trying to say no to the guy who puts down and ends up cashing in his coffers.
He will be back in three weeks for the regular-season opener. And while it would be human nature to resent Brady’s absence for some of those left behind, that’s one of the perks of being the best ever. I’d rather adopt Brady with a 10 day break at camp than someone using #nodaysoff.
