New Zealanders are increasingly demanding the atmosphere and amenities of retirement villages, making cost and location less of a concern. This trend indicates that older New Zealanders (a growing cohort) want to remain active and engaged after retirement. This insight comes from a Canstar survey to find New Zealanders’ favorite retirement village providers.

There are currently 842,100 Kiwis over the age of 65, and that number is expected to reach 1 million by 2028. This is her 20% of the total population.

A Canstar survey found that more than half of us (54%) believe a retirement village is a good option for older New Zealanders, with 60% of Kiwis in their 60s and 88% of Kiwis in their 70s. has risen to %. However, the survey also shows that New Zealanders remain concerned about the cost and level of care provided in nursing homes. Additionally, more than a quarter (26%) worry about the costs of eroding their family legacy.
