Musbread Seafood Beauty Wins Nauset Light at Plainridge

Plainville, Massachusetts — The third installment of the $15,000 Nauset Lights preview race for 2-year-old pacers was held Monday afternoon (September 19th) at Plainridge Park, where Massachusetts-raised Seafood Beauty (American Ideal – Seafood Annie) said she It was a runaway winner when getting ready for the race. Next she won the $2.5 million Massachusetts Sire Stakes.

Jay Randall left Seafood Beauty to pull away from fellow mass breeder Wicked Scorcha (Jim Hardy) before the 28.1 half. Coming into the points, Seafood Beauty reached the half in his 57.4 seconds, with Hey Junior (Ron Cushing) on the outside and in 4 minutes he kept pushing the pace to 1:25.4 with 3. Around the final turn Seafood Beauty began to pull away from the herd and with a new lifetime mark of 1:55.2 he took the win by 5-1/4 lengths.
After returning from a midsummer hiatus following a successful New York Sire Stakes program, Seafood Beauty ($3.20) won two in a row for owner Seafood Delight Stable and trainer Nick Vanvilis.
Seafood Beauty will compete in the 2-Year-Old Pacing Fillies division of the Massachusetts Sire Stakes starting at Plainridge Park on Sunday (September 24).
Randall ended the day with two wins on the card alongside Mike Stevenson.
Also on Monday was the filly-on-filly $15,000 condition race, where Skyler Hanover won his sixth race of the year.

Quarrell (Pat Curtain) took the early lead, but Skyler Hanover (Drew Monty) wanted the front and got it by the quarter in 27.1 seconds. That lead was short-lived, however, as Roaring his Kitty (Jim Hardy) rose to the top as the race passed the stands and crossed over before his 56th his half of the 56th minute. The position remained unchanged until Skyler Hanover moved to his two pass and spun out of the final turn matching his stride with Roaring Kitty. Skyler was at the wire in Hanover where he was able to gain his one-length advantage by two minutes and won in 1:52.2.
Skyler Hanover ($7.40) is owned by Eric Walstrom and David De Martino and trained by Jimmy Nickerson.
