Dallas – Lufthansa and the Cockpit Pilots Union have announced details a week after agreeing on a “comprehensive” peace obligation that will apply until the end of June 2023.
According to a German news portal Zeit Onlineairline pilots will receive an additional €490 per month retroactively from August 2022 and April 2023.
LH reports that young co-pilots get paid about 20% higher, and senior year captains get 5.5% higher.
The price increase surpasses the company’s latest public offering. According to LH, “a constructive exchange of views on various topics” was also agreed for a period until June 2023.

Comments from parties to the agreement
Marcel Gröls, VC’s collective bargaining policy chair, said:
“We are now on good terms with Lufthansa.” Lufthansa Chief Human Resources Officer Michael Nigemann announced a dialogue with the Vereinigung Cockpit to find “sustainable solutions”.
At the beginning of September, LH had to cancel almost all flights due to a one-day strike by pilots. About 130,000 passengers were unable to travel as planned. Last Tuesday, the labor union decided at the last minute not to proceed with another strike the next day after reaching an agreement in negotiations with LH management.
German airlines and their customers can now be assured that they will not expect pilot strikes for about 10 months, following an agreement with the Cockpit Pilots’ Union that stipulates peace obligations.
