Shreveport, Louisiana (KSLA) – LSU Health Shreveport’s Center for Excellence Against Emerging Threats (CEVT) is now administering the much-anticipated bivalent booster vaccine..
LSU Health is urging the public to get new vaccines and boosters. Bivalent Covid vaccines and boosters are FDA cleared. It contains the mRNA components of the original strain of COVID-19 and provides a broadly protective immune response against the virus.
Bivalent boosters are the best available defense against severe illness from COVID-19, according to LSU Health.
How to get Vaccine Boosters:
Where: LSUHS North Campus Site (formerly Chevyland) 2627 Linwood Avenue, Shreveport
when: Saturday 17th September & Sunday 18th September 10am-4pm
For COVID-19 bivalent booster vaccination:
- Pfizer Bivalent Booster: Available to anyone over the age of 12 and at least 2 months after their second primary or booster dose.
- Moderna Bivalent Booster: Available to anyone over the age of 18 and at least 2 months after their second primary or booster dose.
Vaccinations are given via a walk-up clinic. Reservations are not required for vaccinations.
Individuals who received their first and second vaccinations outside of LSUHS are encouraged to pre-register for a booster appointment at www.lsuhs.edu/covid19/vaccine.
All persons are required to provide ID and insurance information upon arrival at the LSUHS vaccine distribution site. People without insurance are still eligible to receive the vaccine.
