EAU CLAIR, Wisconsin (WEAU) – A local business held a car show to raise money for cancer research and awareness.
Eau Claire’s Builders First Source hosted a fundraiser to raise $6,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The money will also be used for an upcoming event on Harriet Island, Minnesota.
“We are raising funds for society and trying to shed light on an evening event LLS will be hosting on Harriet Island in the Twin Cities on September 22nd.
The event was $5 for those who wanted to drive their own car or just enjoy watching the car show.
“When you get in the car, you get a ping-pong ball, and that ping-pong ball has a number and is tied to an actual prize donated. But you can access it, so it’s all luck in the lottery,” said Anger.
Builders FirstSource has held other events to raise funds for LLS, but the idea of holding a car show is new.
“Someone came up with the idea of a car show to raise money, and we all got in. And you know, we spread the word and uh, a lot of people are attending. It seems that.
They hope to resume the car show next year.
“We plan to do that for years to come,” Anger said.
