Parkersburg, Virginia (WTAP) –
Several royal ties to the Mid-Ohio Valley have been unearthed when the Queen is buried on Monday.
Kreinik Manufacturing is a local company that produces thread and threads for seamstresses, crafters, fly fishermen and more.
When Elizabeth II is buried Monday after spending more than 70 years as Queen of England, the Kreinik owner said his business has helped sew interesting things. A connection to the Queen, the royal family, and the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Doug Kreinik said the company was contacted after the 1992 Windsor Castle fire. He said Hampton Court or Windsor Castle contacted them about the metal fiber.
The company makes synthetic threads that look like real gold. It was this thread that the court wanted to make the tassel from.
He said the company was known all over the world and that they were the only ones making that type of yarn at the time.

“So I guess these tassels were used at Buckingham Palace to keep them from being stolen. Or they were used as tassels all over Windsor Castle. But the Queen would have been OK with everything.”
He doesn’t remember much about the 1992 exchange, but he does remember the visit.
“We… he and I and my sister-in-law went to Hampton Court and watched them sew.
The company has many interesting ties to other groups, shows and films, including Game of Thrones, the Abraham Lincoln Museum, the Paris and Swedish Opera Houses, and Hocus Pocus Two.
This local business can be said to be embedded in history in more than one way.
