A clip of Ken Li, 38, in Ukraine was shown on Saturday by a German station.
German news program Tagesschau aired a 5:44 clip of Lee under the title “Ukrainian Foreign Soldier”.
In an interview with the show, Lee said, “It’s hard to fight an enemy that is a world superpower. They have a lot of ammunition and artillery. But I have a lot of experience in Somalia and Iraq. In the past, I believe I can help here.”
He continued, “I almost died a couple of times. A lot of people say, ‘I did enough, I hurt my knee.’ I have.”
The clip also showed Lee firing a machine gun and his team driving tanks and armored vehicles. The captions below some of these scenes said that Lee provided the footage for the show.
Lee returned to South Korea last week after suffering a torn ligament in his knee. It has been three months since he left South Korea to fight in Ukraine.
Upon arrival at the airport, police investigators were dispatched to confirm Lee’s injuries, and immediate steps were taken to ban him from leaving the country.
Lee is a former South Korean Navy Special Forces officer who went to Ukraine in March to fight Russia. He was once one of the most popular television personalities after appearing in his YouTube reality series ‘Fake Men’. However, his popularity didn’t last long after he faced sexual harassment accusations in 2020.
