Kelsea Ballerini uses fashion as a tribute to her hero and collaborator, Shania Twain. The country music star spun Twain’s exact 1999 Grammy dress at 15.th The annual Academy of Country Music takes place Wednesday night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
The shimmering white Marc Bower turtleneck long-sleeve gown was worn by Twain on his 41st birthday.st At the annual Grammy Awards, she won Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song for “You’re Still the One.”The gown was loaned by the Grammy Museum to her 28-year-old ballerini for her 24 hours and is now The power of women in country music exhibition.
Before hitting the carpet, Ballerini posted a story on Instagram, revealing some of the archival gowns sitting in the museum, writing: “We are so honored to help make this moment happen,” the agency wrote on its Instagram story.

Twain received the ACM Honorary Poet Award Wednesday night and said: entertainment tonightshe was “so blown away” to see Ballerini wearing the gown.
“She looks stunning. She looks like an absolute angel. Seeing her in a dress was flattering and she even wanted to wear it. I said. [Grammy Museum]’ said Twain. “The night at the Grammys was incredible for me. That dress reflected that experience, so I’m happy to see it live again. I was born and had new memories and it’s really nice to be able to share them with other people and other women. It’s a compliment.
Ballerini told the outlet that she believes Twain’s personal style deserves recognition. I wanted to respect that part of her too.”
Unable to change the gown, Ballerini was worried the dress wouldn’t fit properly. Nobody wants another fiasco 😉 But, thankfully, Ballerini made it work! Since she’s a little taller than Twain, she decided to simply wear shorter heels.
There was another Twain twin moment later in the night: during Ballerini’s performance, she mirrored Twain’s appearance on stage at the 1999 Grammy Awards. The star dressed in black strapless corset her dress with fishnet stockings and beaded fringe her opera her gloves, just like Twain did 23 years ago.
The pair met in 2017 and collaborated in 2020 on Ballerini’s hit “Hole in a Bottle” from the album. KelseyThe performer was also included in Twain’s new Netflix documentary not just a girltalks about Twain’s immense influence on his country music career.
The event took place last night, but AMC Honors airs Tuesday, September 13th on FOX.
