On September 7, 1985, as newlyweds in our “late years,” my wife Janet and I thought little about having children. We loved the Lord and we loved each other. After meeting at our local church a year ago, we were very happy with our new life.
A year after we were married, we were blessed with a life-changing move to Santa Barbara, and two years after that, we got an unexpected adoption opportunity in God’s perfect timing.
One evening after our service, Judy and Ron Snyder kindly asked if we were interested in adopting a newborn baby girl. Told.
Unfortunately, that and subsequent recruitment opportunities fell through due to circumstances beyond our control. It was then that I realized that God was telling us to take adoption seriously, so I started an open adoption process with Doug Donnelly, a well-known local adoption attorney.
Six months later, we became parents to a beautiful baby girl born at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. Faith has been a great blessing ever since. Thirty-two years later, we still know she was a “gift from God.”
The adoption process obviously involved a lot of people, but it all started with some sage advice to a young woman who realized she needed to have her first child.
Babies are humans, planned or not. From conception they are the future boys, girls, men and women, of great value to society, deserving of the opportunity not only to survive, but to thrive and contribute to the glory of God.
If God wants to take them away quickly, that’s God’s job. However, it should not be influenced or demanded by any business entity or government agency. In my opinion, the U.S. Supreme Court vacated his Roe v. Wade decision.
Moving forward, my prayers will be focused on the many organizations (Pro-Life Centers) that continue to assist men and women who will be sure to cope with unplanned pregnancies in this new political environment.
Here in California, I believe many eyes will be opened and non-profit organizations like our own Network Medical will be able to provide even better professional assistance leading to more viable births than ever before. I’m here.
It baffles me to hear that people who oppose life are actually celebrating baby showers for their future children while advocating mass abortion.
There was a time when Roe v. Wade didn’t care at all. That was before I accepted Christ as my Savior and Lord in 1984. Gradually, I realized that there was something fundamentally wrong with taking the life of an unborn child, and I soon came to understand the importance of the sanctity of all life.
We live in a time when many have deviated from what God’s Word presents as righteous and proper conduct.
In Romans 1:21, the Apostle Paul explains:
We need to return to God’s Word and learn to truly bless and protect life!
