My hair washing routine always starts with a preppo. This is essentially a mask or conditioner that is applied to your hair before you wash it as you normally would. Usually bentonite clay and water—sometimes with apple cider vinegar. I also dabbled in using cheap conditioner and water while detangling my hair in preparation for shampoo and conditioner. As directed, I dampened my hair and applied the mask in parts. I was seriously impressed with how smooth the formula was and how quickly my dry strands became easier to detangle. The imperfect side was as dry as the Sahara, but the finished side had movement, bouncy yet defined curls. I noticed how comfortable and moisturized I felt while I was there.
