We launched that company for 5 years, revolutionized the healthcare industry, and were then acquired by a larger company. I worked for the acquired company for about a year and a half, until the company ran into some problems and laid off the entire Utah division.

I did my best to help people who lost their jobs after layoffs. We were in growth mode and we had just hired a bunch of people, plucked them out of their careers and said ‘sorry you got fired’ which made me feel bad. I spent months trying to find out where they would go, especially where they worked closely in my department.
During this time, I worked for American HealthCare Lending, so I was introduced to various companies that I didn’t know about. I started thinking about starting something myself, joining another early-stage startup, or looking for a job at a late-stage company, what to do next.
That summer, I met with over 100 different founding teams. I have kept the list. I’m a goal-oriented person, so I made a goal and met 50 teams, met 50, met 100 I made a goal and met 100. I explored cool stuff, and some ideas of my own, but none were right for me. I’ve met with 100 different founders and haven’t been able to find the right one.” The person who introduced me.

The company was only a year old and had three employees at the time. I wasn’t the co-founder, but very early on he got involved with Whistic. They didn’t even have paying customers yet. They had an early version of the application and a vision of where it was going. I was really looking forward to it.
If you ask me what Whistic is, I’ll describe it as Vendor Security Network, which addresses the challenges associated with evaluating third-party vendors. We are all familiar with data breaches such as: solar windsthat is the space in which we play.
Our office was originally a 10 by 10 square foot space. We were next to a lady who does credit repair services and the walls were paper thin. I was pretty sure she was breaking some laws with credit repair services. To sit down, we had to spill out of the room. Good times.
