Applications are being accepted now by the Department of Economic and Community Development through Friday, October 21st.
Governor Janet Mills announced today that the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is accepting applications for its annual Business Excellence Award (GABE). Since 1991, the award has recognized and honored Maine businesses not only for their exemplary performance in the manufacturing or service profession, but also for their high level of commitment to their communities and employees.
“Each year, we are honored to dedicate our Governor’s Awards to some of our exemplary businesses that make Maine a great place to live, work and raise a family.” Governor Janet Mills said:“We encourage Maine businesses to apply and look forward to celebrating this year’s winners and their many contributions to our state.”
“Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence has become one of Maine’s most prestigious business recognition awards. recommended.” Economic and Community Development Director Heather Johnson said:.
In 2021, winners Acme Monaco Corporation, Ware-Butler Building Supply, and ReVision Energy were recognized as models of economic success. This year’s awards are intended to honor Maine businesses that consistently strive for excellence amid global challenges.
The 2022 Governor’s Awards for Business Excellence Award categories include:
- innovation Awardcelebrates and recognizes business excellence through entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Regional Revitalization Awardrecognizes its contribution to the revitalization and growth of rural Maine communities.
- Heritage Industry Awardrecognize and celebrate business excellence in the agricultural, forestry, manufacturing or marine sectors.
- climate leader awardrecognizes business leadership, innovation or excellence in developing new technologies to reduce climate risks or combat climate change.

Applications can be submitted to BizAwards.DECD@maine.gov until Friday, October 21, 2022. Details of the award ceremony will be announced by the Governor’s Office at a later date.
