“Mom” was the word for Friday night. It’s not just what marked the homecoming festivities at Dragon Stadium, but the fact that the Dragons closed down Keller Timber Creek 51-0 for good, kicking off the weekend of festivities in style.
The Dragons flaunted roster depth and dominated every aspect of an impressive team win. The defense stood tall again, gaining even more experience behind senior leaders and captains Logan Anderson and Cade Parkes. Together, the Dragons held the Falcons to just 58 yards of combined offense.
Even more impressive, 18 different players scored at least one tackle that night. Aaron Sharp led the team with eight tackles and interceptions, while Jack Petox and Connor Hill contributed six and five tackles respectively. But the night’s top honors go to Dragon Pride Player of the Week, Dastan Mark. The junior defensive lineman forced him to tackle six, sack one and fumble.
The team’s momentum was seen on both sides of the ball, with 18 different players contributing a total of 479 offensive yards for the team. His three quarterbacks for the Dragon, Kaden Anderson, Graham Knowles, and Parker His Thompson all connected with nine different receivers, going 21-26 total for 288 yards (81%) and he had 3 scored a touchdown. Junior wideouts Jacob Jordan and Trey Ferri were on the receiving end of three scoring passes, Jordan catching two of them.
On the ground, Owen Allen carried the ball just five times, with six Dragons running backs for 191 yards and four touchdowns that night.
The Dragons (4-0, 1-0) lost 16-31 to Keller Central to face winless Haltom Buffalo (0-4, 0-1) coming out of a Week 4 loss. hit the road. The game will start at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 22nd.
