Oh that was great. It’s been incredibly verifiable and confirmed the fact that there are customers waiting for this kind of product from me, and that there are customers in all market segments and all size categories. It was incredibly positive.
The collaboration was going to be very small, but it grew exponentially through the process of creating the product. I think I’m more happy and open to what I say and what I do than I was six years ago when I left.”
Jodie Turner-Smith and Tessa Thompson wore your look at the Venice Film Festival. (Even Jody worn 2.) How does it feel to have red carpet credit again?
I love those girls dearly. That’s what I love about being in LA. It’s the proximity to them. I especially like what they do on the carpet. They embody the Harbison woman at once in front of so many people. Jody is strong, intelligent, athletic, beautiful, poised, extremely talented and confident. That’s what the women of Harbison represent. [them and say]”Ah, wait. that is HARBISON stands for “I love you.”
I think it’s safe to assume that you clearly want every day Women gravitate toward your clothes, but I can’t help but notice that the three women you mentioned are all black. Does that add an important layer to you?
Well I start Because it’s the first image of beauty I’ve ever seen. It was my mother, my grandmother, my aunt. It was about how they moved with their clothes, how they approached beauty and makeup, how they were practical and strong women, but also incredibly feminine, beautiful and curvaceous. That’s where I start when I think about women and femininity.
So with this collection, I started there too. The palette, inspiration, stories and memories I weave into these clothes are memories of those women. For every woman, every person, every customer. But at first theyAlthough it is for everyone, what is nuclear? they what i did in the world and what they did for me.
What do you hope the next few years will look like for Harbison?
Honestly, I hope the next few years are all about growth. I’m making sure that anyone who wants a piece of this kind of optimistic world I’m building can get a piece of it. I’m hoping to occupy menswear, but accessories, beauty, home, whatever you have… I’m really just a product boy! I love beautiful things and hope that beautiful things come out of this brand and that those beautiful things reach people who want them. No game!
