“My Economy” tells the new economic normal through the eyes of the people who are building it. Because we know that the only numbers that really matter are the economic numbers.
Starting a business was a passion project for Erika Thompson, owner and operator of Texas Bee Works.
“I knew keeping bees was something I wanted to devote all of my time and energy to, but I didn’t know exactly how,” she said. From breeding bees to teaching beekeeping classes, I started answering yes to bee inquiries.
“I was in the beekeeping business when I joined TikTok in 2020, and everything changed.” .
As a beekeeper, Thompson had to deal with rising prices and transportation costs for “equipment used to house bees, hives”, etc. Inflation and the larger economy affected her. “I don’t think people realize how important bees are to our ecosystem, not just our food system.” .”
