The women of the beloved sitcom Friends are often credited as some of the most memorable fashions of the 1990s (see: Rachel Green’s Fashion Legacy), but they’re also probably the coolest. There’s a moment that takes the cake: Before Bella Hadid endorsed Chrome Hearts crop tops and artists like Rihanna wore the brand’s iconic jewelry. Matt LeBlanc was one of the first celebrity endorsers of the now-legendary fashion company.
The cast, who trailed the second season of “Friends,” appeared and performed at the 1996 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. LeBlanc wore a classic black suit, but with a custom twist, his Chrome Hearts sling. This is because breaking his arm wasn’t going to deter him from being the most style-savvy person on the carpet.
The statement piece is made entirely of leather and features a custom silver and gold cross in the center. LeBlanc also wore a white dress shirt with Chrome Hearts silver buttons and topped it off with custom sunglasses from the brand.

LeBlanc told people at the time that the injury was due to a botched fight scene while filming “Friends,” but 25 years later, in an HBO reunion special, LeBlanc jumped into a chair on set and dislocated his shoulder. i know i did He urged the writers to incorporate his injury into much of season three. Not only did an injury follow Joey into the show, Chrome Hearts became a staple in his wardrobe for years to come.
