Biloxi, Mississippi (WLOX) – Allen Beverages celebrating a major milestone. Founded 75 years ago.
President and General Manager Andrew Allen said: “A few years ago we realized we would soon reach our 75th milestone, so last year we made plans to celebrate the whole year.”
Allen’s grandfather, Cleve, started the business in 1947. Allen started his shadowing job when he was 12 years old. He now runs a company.
“I had some really good people looking after me,” Allen said. “They looked to the future of the company. We are focused on helping them get where they need to be.”
Success leaves clues. Allen’s father and grandfather taught him the importance of giving back. His grandmother was a founding member of the non-profit organization Feed My Sheep. That philanthropic spirit is still alive and well, 75 years later. The company is deeply involved in the community and focused on serving the disenfranchised.
“You don’t do it because people see you doing good,” Allen said. “You do it because you’re good at it.”
Locally owned and operated soft drink distributors have grown to more than 20 brands including Pepsi, Sunkist, Gatorade, Lipton and Starbucks.
