During the coronavirus crisis, Lufthansa began to terminate contracts, bypass joint agreements and set up new airlines on terms of lower wage levels.
“We haven’t received enough offers today,” spokesman Matthias Beyer said. “This is a cold, missed opportunity.”
Michael Nigemann, Chief Human Resources Officer and Head of Labor at Lufthansa AG Germany, said:
“The VC call to strike is incomprehensible.Despite the ongoing burden of the Covid crisis and the uncertain outlook for the global economy, the management has made a very good and socially balanced proposal. Escalation costs thousands of customers.”
The group has presented an offer for an 18-month period in which Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo pilots will receive a total of €900 more base salary per month in two phases, according to a statement.
This benefits salaries, especially for new hires.
Entry-level co-pilots receive an additional 18% or more base salary over the life of their contract, and final-level captains receive 5%. With ground staff agreement, the group has indicated its willingness to make significant wage increases.
